Brisbane based counsellor Robyn Sheptooha has been practising for ten years within the fields of relationship and family counselling. Her genuine interest for people of all different ages, cultural backgrounds and phases in life has emerged professionally from her own personal experiences of growing up in a multi-cultural neighbourhood where the languages, rituals, music and cultures of her Greek, German, and Aussie friends merged and developed respectfully.

From these rich foundations Robyn’s desire to be of humanitarian service flourished. Firstly in her work as a nurse and midwife for over 10years, as a parent to her 4 children, and as a coordinator of a school based environmental program for 5years. She then moved into roles as a Telephone counsellor/facilitator with Lifeline for 5years and since 2004 working as a Relationship and Family counsellor for Relationships Australia. During her time within this organization Robyn has had opportunities to work with children, adolescents, couples, individuals and families. The sessions offered have taken the form of individual, group and reflecting team approaches. Over the course of 2009 Robyn has trained in Expressive Therapies which offers clients diverse opportunities to make use of Art, Movement, Music, Sandplay and Symbols to deepen their understanding of themselves and provide different ways of looking at things with fresh perspectives and creative options.

Robyn’s integration of working with many modalities has enabled her to develop a unique approach that is further underpinned by 9 years of her own journey in personal psychotherapy within Humanistic, Voice Dialogue, Gestalt, Mindfulness and Psychodynamic therapies.  She is a professional member of ACA and holds a Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Graduate Certificates in Sandplay and Symbol work and Art, Movement and Music.

Over the past five years working face to face with clients in a client centred collaborative framework, Robyn has supported children, teenagers, and adults as they transition through challenges arising from their current and past circumstances. Assistance has been sought to work with: relationship and communication issues, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, suicidal ideation, crisis intervention, sexual abuse, anger management, parenting, separation and divorce, blended families, domestic violence, sexual libido, and same sex issues.

Robyn has been continually inspired by the strength and resilience of the human spirit during her years of practice. She finds enrichment in the learning and discovery that comes from the poetry and writings of Rumi, Kahlil Gibran, Pablo Neruda, Thomas Moore, Paulo Coelho, Irving Yalom, John Cabot-Zinn , Sark, Mark Pearson and many other bountiful thinkers.

For appointments to work with Robyn she can be contacted on her mobile on 0412755668.

Quote fromRumi :

“It is certain that an atom of goodness on the path of faith is never lost.”

Quote by: Hal & Sidra  Stone ( creators of Voice Dialogue Modality) from “ Embracing Our Selves”

The roar of awakening for people is often marked by “the discovery that we are more than we think we are. It is the discovery that we have taken on identities that incorrectly or inadequately express our essential being.”

Mission Statement

In my counselling practice my mission is to create respectful, compassionate, therapeutic relationships, where clients are enabled to embrace the rich totality of who they are and have the potential to be in their lifetime.
My intention is to compassionately facilitate and creatively honour what exists within each individual client so that they may open the way for themselves to accept, integrate and grow into their lives more gracefully. This applies to all my clients irrespective of age, gender and background.
For each client I work with I aim to generate a safe atmosphere that fosters the unfolding of their sense of awareness, self-acceptance and self-discovery.
