Counselling is essentially a lively, human, and personal experience between two people. It aims to help you explore your life, find your own answers — so you can make your best choices and live your most satisfying life.

Good objective communication with the counsellor can help you discover more about your values, priorities, and beliefs. Sandy Kumskov uses EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) in every session, to help you quickly discharge the emotional charge of your situation, to find your resourceful self so you can move on with your life.
  • Whoever you are —
  • Whatever your age —
  • Whatever the situation or problem you are facing —
  • Whether you are worried, depressed, confused, feeling bad about yourself, coping with unexpected change or crisis —
  • Just wanting to make some changes in your life —

It can be helpful to talk things over, in confidence, with an understanding and well trained 'outsider' - a counsellor.

And you can transform your life from painful—to peaceful

Who uses counselling services, and why?

Everyone can use counselling services at some time in their lives. Perhaps you’re experiencing distressing events or feelings which seem to have no solution. Sometimes these feelings are due to circumstances such as illness, injury, or relationship issues. Or you may have no idea what is making you feel the way you do; all you know is that your life has become uncomfortable, difficult, or even unbearable.

If you have feelings you don’t quite know what to do with, a counsellor can help you get clarity and find a new sense of control.

What happens during counselling?

You work closely with the counsellor to build up a trusting relationship where you can clarify your problems. You have complete control over the session, and can explore with the counsellor any issues which may arise, or stop or change the direction of the discussion at any time.

Any solutions and actions arrived at are always with your best interests in mind, and your complete agreement.

The counsellor’s notes are always available for you to read, but are otherwise completely confidential. Limits of this confidentiality will be explained during your first session.

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral from any other practitioner to access counselling services; although many people are referred to a counsellor while undergoing other treatments.

What about medication?

A counsellor will not label, diagnose, offer prescription medications, or assess you. A holistic counsellor may offer you flower essences or energy therapy, or suggest you consult one of the other therapists in this clinic for body work.

What if I don't know what to say?

Since one of the aims of counselling is to help you if you are confused, you don’t need to be clear about your problem; or even sure if you have a problem or not. Counsellors are skilled in helping you relax, and in asking questions to help you get clarity. If you do feel very clear about your situation and what you want out of counselling, you’ll negotiate your best outcomes during the counselling process.

How long will it take?

An average session lasts for around 50 minutes. There is no set number of sessions for any particular problem to be resolved. During your first session you’ll establish your goals for counselling. When you’ve met those goals you may want to explore other issues, or end the sessions. The choice is always in your hands.

Counselling with Sandy costs $80 per hour. Payment is accepted by cash, cheque, and major credit cards.

Fees are payable at the time of service as no accounts will be issued. If you need to cancel an appointment, please give 24 hours notice so another client can gain benefit from the time.
