What does Holistic mean in Massage Therapy? There are many massage people who treat you as only having a physical body. We consider you as a whole person - physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. You may come to us at "Healing Within" simply for " Restorative Relaxation Massage". If that is precisely what you want then that is exactly what you will get and we will do only relaxation massage techniques and work only on your physical body as requested. However…. if you have old aches, pains, chronically tight spots etc... and would like to to dissappear, then you've come to the right place! With out being too flippant – how long is a piece of string? From this distance we have no idea as you are an individual, and your needs, need to be discovered and a plan of treatment can then be created. As a general guide something you have had a long time will usually take more sessions that something that is recent. Sometimes something that appears recent has had a long less visible history that goes back to childhood. The number of sessions depends upon whether you want to work on the big picture or treat a crisis or injury- how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? It is totally up to you – we suggest that you begin with making an appointment for a “deep relaxation” or a massage which gives us both an opportunity to discover your unique needs. It is also desirable to arrive fifteen minutes early prior to every appointment just to have those minutes of rest to yourself to bring you to ready to get the most out of your session. How often should I have a treatment?Looking after our emotional-body-mind-spirit could be viewed a bit like keeping our house clean or maintaining our car. If we do it regularly it runs well and stays clean. If we leave a long time between cleaning or car service there is usually a lot to do all at once. With deep relaxation, massage or the energy medicines initially three sessions close together a week apart is best – that gets you moving, then spacing out to fortnightly/three weekly. How long an appointment should I book?We suggest for a first appointment book one and a half hours as one hour just always seems too short for an assessment and a treatment. Next decide how much time is needed according to your treatment plan. Our usual appointment lengths are:One hour for:
One and one half or two hours for:
Thirty minutes for:
