Musculoskeletal Therapy (MST) is a relatively new profession in Australia. MSTs are experts at treating muscle pain and postural imbalances from overuse injuries. This thorough process is essential for the fastest road to recovery to be identified as well as your general well being Evidence-Based Treatment Plans MSTs are guided by current research & also equipped with extensive clinical experience in order to choose the best approach for you Manual Therapy- The hands-on MST skills include mobilisation, manipulation and massage of muscles, joints and neural structures. This can include; Relaxation, deep Tissue and sports massage Complimentary Techniques- This includes cupping, dry needling ( western medical acupuncture), aromatherapy, cryotherapy (use of cold and heat) and lymphatic drainage Home Exercise Programs- Stretching, strengthening & physical exercise is important component of fitness, your MST will work directly with your personal trainer to provide a comprehensive program with the maximum amount of knowledge available Hydrotherapy - Water based exercise may be used exclusively or in combination with other modalities to assist your recovery Gym-Based Rehabilitation- Return to higher levels of fitness and strength in an environment that is motivating and functionally specific to your goals Education, Advice and Therapy- MSTs will give you a better understanding of how and why your injury has occurred or re-occurs; advice on suitable exercise, ergonomic changes and other self-help strategies including information handouts Holistic Approach- Where it would be beneficial, the Musculoskeletal therapist will recommend other therapies that will complement the rehabilitation of your injury or condition. In these circumstances the bodywize therapists work closely for your faster, more complete recovery Fitting -Musculoskeletal therapists are skilled in biomechanical analysis and the fitting of bracing and supports which can improve injury recovery, walking, comfort and sports performance. Taping -This aids joint protection, proprioception & muscle biofeedback this method is a regular part of many treatments.
