Megan began Yoga in Iyengar and Hatha styles in Melbourrne in 1996. After being introduced to 'Oki-Do' yoga she was struck by this style and its diversity and wholeness of exploring more creative and communicative movement through partner and group postures, sound work, shiatsu and macrobiotics. Returning to Brisbane in 1997 to complete a B.A. in Visual Arts, she continued her exploration into Yoga focusing on Shiatsu and Macrobiotics. She began bringing more experiential anatomy and subtle awareness to yoga by beginning the ongoing study of 'Somatic Yoga' and 'Body Mind Centering'.Megan also became interested in dance and explored Butoh, Egyptian and Contact Improvisation, and has been involved in performance projects inspired by Oki-Do Yoga. In 2002 she completed a teacher training in Oki-Do yoga and began teaching. Megan plans on studying in Japan in early 2006 and hopes to return to Italy and study in Holland in the near future. She has taught at Sowelu Fitness since late 2003 and also in various healing centres, gyms, art galleries, community centres and womens' refuges in Brisbane. She also offers individual Yoga consultations and continues to teach at Nundah Community Centre and 'Zen Central': the Oki-Do Yoga Centre in West End. |
